Quick Reference: Odds Formats
Decimal
Total return per unit staked, including your stake. 2.50 returns $2.50 on a $1 bet.
Fractional
Profit relative to stake. 3/2 means $3 profit for every $2 staked, plus your stake back.
American
Positive shows profit on a $100 stake; negative shows the stake needed to win $100.
What is an Up and Down Bet?
An Up and Down bet is similar to an SSA but structured differently. Each selection has one unit staked, and if it wins, one unit from the return is placed on the other selection. It requires at least one winner for a return.
How It Works
With a $10 Up and Down (total stake: $20):
- $10 on A. If A wins, $10 from the return goes onto B as a separate bet
- $10 on B. If B wins, $10 from the return goes onto A as a separate bet
Example
$10 Up and Down on A (3.00) and B (2.50):
- If both win: A returns $30 ($10 conditional on B at 2.50 = $25). B returns $25 ($10 conditional on A at 3.00 = $30). Total: $55 + original winning returns
- If only A wins: $30 from A. $10 conditional on B loses. Net: $20 return from $20 staked = break even
- If neither wins: Lose $20
