Understanding Odds Formats

Different regions of the world use different odds formats. Our converter handles all major formats so you can compare odds across international bookmakers.

Decimal Odds

Popular in Europe, Australia, and Canada. Decimal odds represent the total payout per unit staked, including your original stake. Odds of 2.50 mean you receive $2.50 for every $1 staked ($1.50 profit + $1.00 stake).

Fractional Odds

Traditional format in the UK and Ireland. Written as a fraction (e.g. 3/1, "three to one"), the numerator represents profit and the denominator represents the stake required.

American Odds

Used primarily in the United States. Positive odds (e.g. +150) show profit on a $100 stake. Negative odds (e.g. -200) show the stake needed to win $100.

Asian Formats

Hong Kong, Indonesian, and Malay odds are variations used in Asian markets. Hong Kong odds show net profit per unit (decimal minus 1). Indonesian odds work like American but with smaller numbers. Malay odds invert for favorites.

Implied Probability

Odds are priced based on the implied probability for an outcome. Therefore, with our odds conversion calculator you can also find the implied probability for an outcome as seen by bookmakers, or if you have your own percentage probability, you can calculate what would be the fair odds for that outcome.
