Quick Reference: Odds Formats
Decimal
Total return per unit staked, including your stake. 2.50 returns $2.50 on a $1 bet.
Fractional
Profit relative to stake. 3/2 means $3 profit for every $2 staked, plus your stake back.
American
Positive shows profit on a $100 stake; negative shows the stake needed to win $100.
What is a Single Bet?
A single bet is the simplest form of betting — you back one selection to win at the quoted odds. If your selection wins, you receive your stake multiplied by the odds. If it loses, you lose your stake.
How to Calculate Single Bet Returns
Return = Stake × Odds
Profit = Return − Stake
Example
You place a $10 single bet at odds of 3.00 (2/1). If your selection wins:
Return = $10 × 3.00 = $30.00
Profit = $30.00 − $10.00 = $20.00
Single bets are ideal for beginners and offer the highest probability of winning compared to multiples, though with lower potential returns.
