What is an Alphabet Bet?

An Alphabet bet consists of 26 bets (like the 26 letters of the alphabet) from 6 selections. It divides selections into two groups of 3 and creates Patents on each group, plus cross-linking bets between them.

Breakdown

  • Patent on selections 1, 2, 3 (7 bets: 3 singles + 3 doubles + 1 treble)
  • Patent on selections 4, 5, 6 (7 bets: 3 singles + 3 doubles + 1 treble)
  • 6 × Cross-doubles linking selections from group 1 with group 2
  • 6 × Cross-trebles (2 from one group + 1 from the other)
  • Total: 26 bets

Why Use an Alphabet?

The two-group structure means you get good coverage within each group (via the Patents) plus connections between groups. Only 1 winner is needed for a return from the singles.

Example

$1 Alphabet (total stake: $26) on 6 selections at 2.50:

  • If all 6 win: Both Patents pay in full + all cross-bets win ≈ $350+
  • If 3 win (all from group 1): Patent 1 pays in full ($39.06), Patent 2 returns nothing. Cross-bets depend on which selections won
