Odds Boost Strategies
You can either lock in a guaranteed profit by laying the boosted selection, or take the +EV exposure without hedging. Most boosts have a maximum stake cap — check the terms.
How Odds Boosts Work
Bookmakers regularly enhance odds on popular selections. For example, "Liverpool to win — was 1.80, now boosted to 2.50". The boost gives you better-than-fair odds on that selection.
Two Strategies
- Lock in guaranteed profit — Lay the boosted selection on an exchange. The boost creates a price gap that guarantees profit regardless of the outcome.
- Take the +EV exposure — If the boosted odds exceed fair odds, you have a positive expected value bet. Higher variance but higher long-term expectation.
Important Notes
- Most boosts have a maximum stake cap (e.g. $10 or $25)
- Check whether the boost applies to pre-match only or in-play too
- Some boosts are genuinely good value; others are margin-neutral marketing
